Installation preparation

1) Supporting pad stones should be installed under the support, and the concrete strength grade of the supporting pad stones should not be lower than C40. The concrete supporting the pad stone and the top surface of the pier should be equipped with corresponding steel mesh according to the requirements of local pressure bearing components in ITG D62-2004 "Design Specification for Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridges and Culverts".

2) The height of the supporting pad stone should consider the convenience of bearing installation, maintenance, and replacement. The surface of the supporting pad stone should be flat. To ensure a tight fit between the lower support plate and the supporting pad stone, a leveling layer thickness can be appropriately reserved on the top surface of the supporting pad stone during construction. The height difference between the four corners of the joint surface between the top surface of the supporting pad stone and the lower support plate should not exceed 2mm. To ensure full contact between the bottom surface of the support and the top surface of the pad stone, a polishing machine should be used to level the surface.

3) For bridges with longitudinal slopes, the bottom of the bridge beam within the length range of the support top plate should be designed to be level with pre embedded steel plates. The concrete of the beam body within the range of the support top plate should also be locally compressed according to ITGD62-2004 and equipped with corresponding steel mesh.

4) The spherical support adopts the connection method of pre embedded anchor sleeves and anchor bolts, and anchor bolt holes need to be reserved on the top surface of the pier according to the specifications and quantity of the anchor sleeves. The diameter and depth of the reserved anchor bolt holes should be 50mm~60mm greater than the diameter and length of the casing. The deviation of the center position of the reserved anchor bolt hole should not exceed 10mm.

5) When the bearings leave the factory, they are assembled by the manufacturing enterprise and shipped as a whole. After the bearings arrive at the construction site, they should be unpacked and inspected for any missing or damaged parts and packing lists. The support must not be disassembled arbitrarily before installation.

6) When installing the support, the top surface of the support pad stone should be chiseled, and the crushed stones and fine sand on the surface of the pad stone should be washed away with clean water, while removing debris from the anchor hole. After the surface of the cushion stone is dried, apply a leveling layer of epoxy mortar on the top surface of the supporting cushion stone outside the anchor bolt hole position, with the leveling layer elevation slightly higher than the design elevation of the support.
